Mayor Eric Garcetti set a goal Thursday of helping to match 15,000 young people with jobs this year.
The goal is part of a wider pledge by city and county leaders to make more jobs available to young people, either at government agencies or through partnerships with businesses and other private groups.
Garcetti announced the 2016 goal for the city at the “Los Angeles Opportunity Youth Job Fair” at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Garcetti said his initiative, HIRE L.A.’s Youth, has so far helped 28,000 young people find jobs since 2013.
