October 1, 2015

The South Park Business Improvement District (BID) attended the annual International Downtown Association (IDA) Conference & Tradeshow from September 30 – October 2, 2015 to learn best practices for nurturing a healthy, vibrant city center. IDA is an international network of diverse practitioners who transform cities into robust urban places, and provide support and insight to BIDs and other community organizers.

On Day 2 of the conference, IDA recognized the South Park BID with its highest award in the category of public space improvements, the Downtown Pinnacle Award. South Park’s winning submission highlighted achievements in: sidewalk repairs, curating a street tree palate, and public art. The South Park BID is grateful to be recognized by the International Downtown Association and thanks all of the strategic partners who made our streetscape improvement projects a reality.

Featured sessions included the mobile tour, “From Homelessness to Housing – Innovative Approaches”, in which guests visited San Francisco’s new Navigation Center led by Bevan Dufty, Director of Housing Opportunity, Partnerships & Engagements (HOPE), with remarks by DTLA Historic Core BID Executive Director, Blair Besten. Breakout groups included, “Branding Your Downtown: Best Practices in Mobile Website and Branding/Marketing”, “Strategies for Keeping Districts Clean, Safe, and Friendly”, and much more.
