Last week, the South Park Business Improvement District celebrated its 10th anniversary with a party and art tour. Now, the organization that provides cleaning, safety and other services is preparing for a bigger, more active future. The South Park Stakeholders Group, which runs the BID, announced it is forming a second BID, dubbed South Park II, which will provide similar services in a wider area. The new BID, bounded roughly by Olympic Boulevard, the alley between Main Street and Broadway, the 10 Freeway, and the alley between Grand Avenue and Olive Street, will have a separate management plan for two years. South Park II will go into effect in January. “So much of the economic vitality that one sees in South Park today can be attributed to its well-executed BID, which includes a thoughtfully balanced approach to development,” said Paul Keller, founding principal and CEO of Mack Urban, which has a multi-phase project rising in the new coverage area. “The new growth that is coming will only add to that excitement. We look forward to the strategic expansion of the South Park BID.”
